I'm finally home. I'm exhausted, but happy. The
whole event was spectacular.
Gig day was wicked. I had a fun filled day of laughter and silliness.
I was lucky enough to meet Eero, Aki and Lauri and got them to sign my album
booklet under their individual pictures. I also got a photo with them each.
They were perfect gentlemen...funny and charming.
After a day of queueing we got our place at the front...well, second row.
But in a venue that size it didn't matter. The view was perfect. I was right
in the middle of the stage. The support band were pretty average in my
personal opinion, but they did a good job of hyping up the majority of the
crowd.
As for The Rasmus? Well, dear Lord, those boys were awesome. Right from the
onset the atmosphere was electric.
And yes Lauri DID sing no beer instead of no fear at least twice. Very
funny. Pauli and Eero also smirked at the signs.
When they started the intro to Sophia I went mental. I really wanted them to
play that song so I was getting all hyper, only for it to all break down.
Pauli stopped playing and kinda shrugged, smirking. Aki was nowhere to be
seen Lauri was kinda wandering round the stage while Eero turned the
bassline into a jam. He grinned, looking all smug as if to say "Well we
haven't played it for six years but at least I still remember my part!!" He
looked cute in the little devil horns at the start too!
Lauri even posed at the front of the stage a couple of times for photos.
'Immortal' was simply amazing live.
'Heart of Misery' rocked big time!
There wasn't one bit that disappointed me really.

There is a large crowd assembling at the Manchester
Academy to watch The Rasmus tonight. All ages are here, though it is mostly
teenage girls. The crowd are becoming anxious but then the support band,
Save Ourselves, enter the stage. Their catchy punk rock songs get the crowd
warmed up and they get a huge applause as they leave the stage.
Eventually, The Rasmus appear, one by one, onto the stage. They begin with
a song from their new album ‘Hide From The Sun’: ‘Night After Night (Out Of
The Shadows)’, which is the follow up to their breakthrough single ‘In The
Shadows’. The crowd are singing along to every word. They follow with more
songs from ‘Hide From The Sun’ and 2004's ‘Dead Letters’, with the singer,
Lauri and the bassist, Eero making comments about how they love the crowd.
After around 7 songs the band gather in a semi-circle around the centre of
the stage for an acoustic set. Eero says that since they are in Manchester
they are going to play a great Manchester song. The band then begin to play
‘Wonderwall’ by Oasis. They also play Rakkauslaulu (sung in Finnish),
Chill, from the band’s ‘Into’ album and ‘Funeral Song’ from 'Dead Letters'.
After a few more louder songs the band leave the stage, with the drummer,
Aki, throwing out his drumsticks and a signed disk form the front of his
drum kit. However, they quickly return to the stage for an encore. Eero
sings some of The Beatles’ ‘I Wanna Hold Your Hand’, commenting on how it
was a proper English song. They then covered ‘Ghostbusters’, which the
crowd loved and then they played ‘In The Shadows’, which was when the crowd
really went wild. They finished on the heartfelt ballad, ‘Don’t Let Go’ and
left the stage with an immense cheer from the crowd.
Overall, a fantastic gig. The Rasmus have defied the critics and put on an
amazing show which the fans who went there surely won't forget.

I can now die happy! It was my first ever Rasmus concert and it was amazing! I was right at the front too so that made it even better. I adored The Rasmus before but after seeing them live I'm in complete awe of them. They are sooo talented; I think that they are one of those bands that are great on CD but phenomenal on stage. They're definitely amazing musicians. I'll definitely be at EVERY Scottish gig from now on. Wow!

Hmm..... OH. MY. GOD.
The first few songs kinda merged into one another for me one minute I was
singing Night After Night, next minute it was FDOML. All the songs
were great; the lights were excellent as well.
Acoustic set was fab too. They played Days, Falling and Funeral Song, with
Eero singing a little of Stand By Me.
And then Eero came out with the cake and drumsticks. Aki played We
Will Rock You with the sticks - have to say that was probably the best part
of the gig.
The encore was fab as usual!
All in all a great gig!
Was truely and utterly awesome!!
Awwww, come back TR!!! We miss you!!
